Related to the Baldwin County Bicentennial Park Advisory Committee, take the following actions:
1) Authorize re-appointment of the following Committee members for a one-year term, said term commencing March 21, 2024, and expiring March 21, 2025:
●Mike Bunn, Director, Historic Blakeley State Park
●Susan Burger, Historian, Stockton Heritage Association
●Claudia Slaughter-Campbell, President, Fort Mims Restoration Association
●Georgene Connor, Historian, Stockton Heritage Association
●Junius Long, Baldwin County Maintenance/Facilities Coordinator
●Cliff Milton, Baldwin County Parks Department
●Kristina Pittman, Executive Director/North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce
●Madison Steele, Baldwin County Parks Department
●Darrell Sudduth, President, South Alabama Antique Tractor and Engine Club
●Mary Flo Williams, Historian, Stockton Heritage Association
2) Accept the request to remove Ronald J. Cink, former Baldwin County Administrator, as a Committee member; and
3) Approve the proposed Mission Statement and Site Significance for the Bicentennial Park.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Background: The Baldwin County Commission approved the establishment of the eleven-member Bicentennial Park Advisory Committee on March 21, 2023 to advise the Director of Archives and History on matters relating to Baldwin County Bicentennial Park and programs administered by the Department of Archives and History, including the development, and historical significance of the site.
Due to time restraints, the Committee has not met since September 2023, and is requesting a one-year term extension.
Staff has verified that the current Committee members are residents of Baldwin County, Alabama, and therefore are qualified to be reappointed.
Previous Commission action/date: March 21, 2023 - The Commission approved the establishment of the Bicentennial Park Advisory Committee and appointed 11 members to the Committee.
