Adopt Resolution #2024-078 of the Baldwin County Commission allocating up to $164,336.25 (29870010.55240) of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Revenue Replacement funds (298.44881) for the architectural and engineering design services of the Baldwin County Courthouse Sally Port. End
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Background: In accordance with the Final Rule issued by the U.S. Department of Treasury on January 6, 2022, the County has duly elected to take the standard allowance of revenue replacement funds equal to $10,000,000 of its ARPA funds (“ARPA revenue replacement funds”).
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office submitted a request to the Baldwin County Commission to fund the construction of a Sally Port, which will provide a Public Entry Control Point. The new Public Entry Control Point will reduce congestion and give adequate space to manage a threat before accessing the facility, plus increase security features at the judicial entrance. It will also provide a secure area in which to bring prisoners into the facility.
Previous Commission action/date:
December 19, 2023 - The BCC approved the design of the new Sally Port at the Baldwin County Courthouse located in Bay Minette for the estimated construction cost of $2,812,562.25 and authorized the Purchasing Director and Architect to bid the project.
September 5, 2023 - The BCC adopted Resolution #2023-164 of the Baldwin County Commission allocating up to but not to exceed $33,322.38 of ARPA Revenue Replacement funds for Baldwin County Courthouse Sally Port Construction Architectural and Engineering Design Services; and approved and authorized the Chairman to execute the AIA Agreement for architectural services with PH&J Architects, Inc. in the amount of 6.5% of the construction cost for the Design of Baldwin County Courthouse Sally Port.
