STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Adopt Resolution #2024-083 amending the Fiscal Year 2024 Budget (Resolution #2023-186 and Resolution #2023-187, adopted September 28, 2023) to authorize the reallocation of budgeted funds for the purchase of three (3) Chevrolet Tahoes for the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and to cover remaining warranty deed and closing cost for the James R. Owen, Jr. Property Purchase PPIN #32370.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Background:  On the Fiscal Year 2024 Decision Item Listing, $1,100,000.00 was allocated to the purchase of (30) Chevy Tahoes, approximately $36,700 each.

The ability to obtain a Tahoe, specifically, was limited so four Chevrolet Silverados were procured at a cost of $50,420 each, for a total of $201,680, with the bid being awarded on the December 19, 2023, BCC Regular Meeting.

Also, with the cost of the Tahoes exceeding the budgeted amount, only 18 were able to be placed on order.  The bid for these vehicles was awarded on the December 19, 2023, meeting as well.

With initial funding exhausted and desired number of vehicles still not obtained, the Budget/Finance Director for the BCSO respectfully requests the use of $150,000.00 from Law Enforcement Training (10052100.51760) to be moved to Capital Outlay Motor Vehicles (10052100.55500) to purchase three additional Tahoes. If approved, this will bring the total vehicles ordered/received to 25, which does not exceed the original 30 requested.

On the January 2, 2024, BCC Regular Meeting, the purchase of the James R. Owen, Jr. property, PPIN #32370, was approved in the amount of $150,000.00.  An additional amount of $1,079.00 has been invoiced to cover warranty deed and closing cost. There is currently $511.00 in excess budget, leaving a need for $568.00 further funding. Staff respectfully requests the reallocation of $568.00 of Commission Contingency Reserves (10051105.52901) to Capital Outlay Land (10051555.55110) to cover the added costs.
