STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
Take the following actions:
1) Approve the request from the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort, for the provision of 200 chairs, tent, stage, and stage skirting for the cemetery expansion dedication and consecration ceremony to be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, in the amount of $2,212.62, said funds to come from the Commission Contingency Fund; and
2) Determine that public purpose is served by and through the Baldwin County Commission expending County public funds and/or other County public assistance/in kind assistance to aid with the event, said public purpose including the promotion of veterans and all branches of the United States Armed Services at a permanent public memorial cemetery, as well as civic and recreational purposes benefiting the general public.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Background: Staff received correspondence from Mr. Joseph Buschell, Assistant Cemetery Director for the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort on February 16, 2024, requesting the County provide 200 chairs, tent, stage, and stage skirting for a dedication and consecration ceremony of the cemetery’s expansion project to be held on March 26, 2024.

Total cost of recommendation: A Grand Affair - 200 chairs, 40 x 60 pole tent installed on the lawn, stage and stage skirting. Total cost $2,212.62.
