BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Background:  The County has an agreement for healthcare services for the detainees of the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and the Juvenile Detention Center in our facilities.  The agreement also covers arranging off-site and/or specialty services for required medical services, including hospital services. This provision also includes the contractor’s duty “to use reasonable efforts to further negotiate improved (reduced) rate for such services.” All current arrangements or agreements with Infirmary Health Systems must be terminated to provide contractor the ability to negotiate additional discounts.

Previous Commission action/date:  March 2, 2006 - BCC approved Letter of Agreement with Infirmary Health System, Inc., with an effective date of April 1, 2006.
