STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Take the following actions:

 

1) Approve the submittal of the Emergency Management Performance Grant Application to the Alabama Emergency Management Agency for $1,347,548.00 for FY 2027; and

 

2) Authorize the Chairman to sign the Application and any documents related to this grant application; and

 

3) Authorize the EMA Planning & Grants Division Manager to submit the application electronically through the AEMA grants portal, on behalf of the Baldwin County Commission. The period of performance for this grant is October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Background: Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) funds are received annually and support viable emergency management programs at the state and local levels of government. The Alabama Emergency Management Agency is the state administrative agency for these funds. The federal and state governments provide EMPG funds to support programmatic elements of local emergency management agencies.

 

Previous Commission action/date:  11/18/2025 - 1) Approved the submission of the EMPG Application for FY 2026; and 2) Authorized the Chairman to sign the application and any documents related to the application; and 3) Authorized the EMA Planning & Grants Division Manager to submit the Application electronically through the AEMA grants portal, on behalf of the BCC.
