BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Background: The week prior to Memorial Day each year is recognized as National Beach Safety Week which focuses on reminding beachgoers to use caution in the aquatic environments. It is the goal of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Tourism (GSOBT) to bring awareness to BEach SAFE week, in conjunction with National Beach Safety Week, with the help of the Baldwin County Commission, Fort Morgan Fire Department (FMFD), City of Gulf Shores and Gulf Shores Fire Department (GSFD), and City of Orange Beach and Orange Beach Fire Department (OBFD).
GSOBT is requesting a proclamation proclaiming May 18 - 25, 2026, as BEach SAFE Week in Baldwin County, Alabama.
Members of GSOBT will be in attendance to accept the Proclamation on behalf of FMFD, City of Gulf Shores, GSFD, City of Orange Beach, and OBFD.
Previous Commission action/date:
May 20, 2025 - Adopted a Proclamation proclaiming May 19-26, 2025, as Baldwin County BEach SAFE Week in Baldwin County, Alabama.
May 21, 2024 - Adopted a Proclamation proclaiming May 20-27, 2024, as Baldwin County BEach SAFE Week in Baldwin County, Alabama.
