STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Award Bid #WG23-47 to the lowest bidder, Black Diamond Construction, LLC, for the removal of derelict sailboat in Weeks Bay near 10681 Cresent Point Drive, Fairhope, Alabama, in the bid amount of $18,000.00 with completion time of three (3) days after Notice to Proceed is issued and authorize the Chairman to execute the Contract.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Background:  Bids were opened in the Purchasing Conference Room on June 30, 2023, at 11:00 A.M.  Two (2) bids were received.  Staff recommends the Commission award the bid to the lowest bidder, Black Diamond Construction, LLC, for the removal of derelict sailboat in Weeks Bay near 10681 Cresent Point Drive in the amount of $18,000.00 and authorize Chairman to execute contract.  The successful contractor will coordinate removal with Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). Bid tabulation attached for review.

 

Previous Commission action/date: 

05/16/2023 Meeting:  Approved the removal of a derelict sailboat in Weeks Bay near 10681 Cresent Point Drive; and authorized the Purchasing Director and ALEA to place a competitive bid and further, authorized the Chairman/Purchasing Division Commissioner for the Baldwin County Commission to approve any necessary addendums or clarifications if required after the bid was advertised.

 

02/24/2023 Meeting: The Commission authorized the expenditure and payment of $13,800.00 to Gillis Construction, Inc. for the removal of derelict sailboat from the Bon Secour River.
