STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Approve Change Order #1 with Tindle Construction, LLC, in the credit amount of ($15,750.00) on the Purchase and Installation of New HVAC Equipment for the Board of Education Building and authorize the Chairman to execute the Change Order.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Background:  The Architect, Dave Sawicki, with JMR+H Architecture, PC, is submitting for Commission approval Change Order #1 in the credit amount of ($15,750.00) on the Purchase and Installation of New HVAC Equipment for the Board of Education Building. The original contract included a $15,000.00 contingency allowance along with 5% overhead and profit markup on the deducted amounts. The 5% overhead and profit markup on the $15,000.00 contingency allowance totals $750.00 for a total credit amount of $15,750.00.

 

The original construction cost of $609,200.00 will be decreased to the new construction cost of $593,450.00.

Previous Commission action/date: 

08/20/2024 meeting: 1) Awarded bid for the Purchase and Installation of New HVAC Equipment for the Board of Education Building to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder, Tindle Construction, LLC, in the bid amount of $609,200.00, Completion time: 90 Working days after materials are received; and 2) Authorized the Chairman to execute the Contract.

 

06/04/2024 meeting: 1) Approved the specifications and authorized the Purchasing Director and Architect, JMR+H Architecture, PC, to place a competitive bid for the Purchase and Installation of New HVAC Equipment at the Baldwin County Board of Education located in Bay Minette; and 2) Further, authorized the Chairman/Purchasing Division Commissioner for the Baldwin County Commission to approve any necessary addendums or clarifications if required after the bid is advertised.

 

04/18/2023 meeting: 1) Adopted Resolution #2023-063 of the Baldwin County Commission allocating up to $1,155,000.00 of ARPA funds to provide ventilation system improvements to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 at the Baldwin County Commission building occupied by the Baldwin County Board of Education located at 2600 Hand Avenue, Bay Minette, Alabama; and 2) Approved and authorized the Chairman to execute the AIA Professional Services Contract with JMR+H Architecture, PC, in the amount of 8.14% of the construction cost for the design of ventilation system improvements in the Baldwin County Commission Building occupied by the Baldwin County Board of Education.
