STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
Take the following actions:
1) Adopt Resolution #2024-136 and approve a Transportation Services Agreement between the Baldwin County Commission Baldwin Regional Area Transit System (BRATS) and the Baldwin County Commission Council on Aging (COA) for BRATS to provide transportation services to the seniors of Baldwin County during normal operating hours Monday through Friday at the cost of $3,158.10 per month for service to the following locations: Bay Minette, Loxley, Summerdale, and Daphne Nutrition Centers. This agreement is contingent on Alabama Department of Transportation’s (ALDOT) approval and shall commence October 1, 2024, and expire September 30, 2027; and
2) Authorize the Chairman to execute the Agreement and any related documents.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Background: Council on Aging (COA) has requested to renew the annual agreement providing transportation service for the senior citizens of Baldwin County to the Bay Minette, Loxley, Summerdale, and Daphne Nutrition Centers Monday through Friday. The COA believes this transportation service will improve the attendance in the Senior Activities for Independent Living (S.A.I.L.) nutrition meal programs.
Previous Commission action/date:
September 5, 2023 - Approved a Transportation Service Agreement between the Council on Aging and Baldwin Regional Area Transit System for the period of October 1, 2023, through September 30, 2024.
August 16, 2022 - Approved a Transportation Service Agreement between the Council on Aging and Baldwin Regional Area Transit System for the period of October 1, 2022, through September 30, 2023.
