BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Background: The Alabama Tourism Department offers Tourism Event Grants to assist municipalities and nonprofit organizations in promoting events that attract tourists to the state. These grants provide funds for festivals and events, aiming to enhance local tourism and economic development.

The Olde Time Days and Christmas Drive Through Lights Display are events held in North Baldwin County at Bicentennial Park. Festivals and events are the fastest-growing forms of tourism. These events are great ways to showcase Bicentennial Park’s beauty, local culture, and history.

Previous Commission action/date:  September 3, 2024 - BCC accepted the 2024 Legislative Tourism Grant in the amount of $2,600.00 from the Alabama Tourism Department Legislative grant program for the Baldwin County Commission (Department of Archives and History) to assist with expenses associated with Christmas at Bicentennial Park (December 2024); and Authorized the Chairman and Felisha Anderson, Director of Archives and History, to execute the Letter of Understanding and any grant-related documents.

August 6, 2024 - BCC accepted the 2024 Tourism Grant for $7,800.00 from the Alabama Tourism Department for the Baldwin County Commission (Department of Archives and History) to assist with expenses involved with Olde Time Days at Bicentennial Park (October 5, 2024) and the Christmas Extravaganza (December 14, 2024).

May 7, 2024 - BCC confirmed, ratified, and approved the submittal of the Alabama Tourism Grant Application by staff on behalf of the Baldwin County Commission for grant funds for community-wide events and festivals.
