BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Background: The Highway Department is submitting for Commission approval Change Order #2 in the amount of $15,452.66 for Project No. HW22026 - Sherman Road Drainage Improvements. The Change Order is for purchasing and driving another concrete pile for the north abutment of bridge due to breaking off pile hitting an impediment beneath pile tip. Debris was removed from pile tip location, and the new concrete pile was driven.

Previous Commission action/date:
03/18/2025 meeting: Approved Change Order #1 in the amount of $60,857.17 for Project No. HW22026 - Sherman Road Drainage Improvements with McElhenney Construction Co., LLC, and authorized the Chairman to execute the Change Order.
07/16/2024 meeting: Awarded the bid for Project No. HW22026 - Sherman Road Drainage Improvements to the lowest bidder, McElhenney Construction Co., LLC, in the Bid Amount $1,294,544.19; Construction Time: 150 working days; and authorized the Chairman to execute the Contract.
03/19/2024 meeting: 1) Approved the allocation of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds in the amount of $2,000,000 for the cost of the Drainage Improvements along Sherman Road Project, to include the replacement of the existing 62-foot timber substructure bridge constructed in 1954 with a new 80-foot concrete bridge to mitigate flooding impacts and improve safety; and 2) Adopted Resolution #2024-081 of the Baldwin County Commission allocating up to $2,000,000 of the ARPA funds for the Drainage Improvements along Sherman Road Project.
03/05/2024 meeting: 1) Approved the Purchasing Director to place a competitive bid for the Sherman Road Drainage Improvement Project; and 2) Approved the Chairman to execute any project related documents.
