BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Background:  The Baldwin County Commission is considering declaring a K&K Message Board as surplus property and authorizing its donation to the Fort Morgan Volunteer Fire Department. The estimated value of the K&K Message Board is $640.00.

The Fort Morgan Volunteer Fire Department intends to place the message board in a prominent location to provide advance notification to residents and visitors of dangerous surf conditions and other hazards that may impact public safety. The County has recently secured grant funding for the installation of beach identification signage to assist first responders in locating individuals in distress; however, that project is in the early stages of implementation. Donation of the message board will provide an interim measure to enhance public awareness and safety in the area.
