BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Background:  The purpose of the CDBG-DR Personally Identifiable Information (PII) Policy is to set minimum standards to ensure Baldwin County and its subrecipients take reasonable steps to protect all PII. PII is any information that can be used to distinguish or trace an individual’s identity either alone or when combined with other personal or identifying information that is linked or linkable to a specific individual. PII is defined by 2 CFR 200.82 and 2 CFR 200.79, as, but not limited to: names, addresses, income verification documents, disability status, and/or employment status. PII can be linked to current or prospective applicants and/or beneficiaries, committee members, vendors, and others involved in the CDBG-DR program. The PII Policy applies to the County CDBG-DR program employees, staff, providers, vendors, suppliers, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, partners, applicants, and subrecipients. This policy assures confidential and/or sensitive information will remain secure and is used in the appropriate manner for which it was intended.
