STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
At the request of the Absentee Election Manager, and as related to the November 5, 2024 Statewide General Election, amend the Contracts for Services between the Baldwin County Commission and Jacqueline Hasting, Paula Long, and Lisa Morgan, to extend the period of performance to commence on September 3, 2024, instead of September 11, 2024, and continue until November 12, 2024.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Background: Violetta Smith, Absentee Election Manager, has requested for the absentee election assistants to begin work earlier due to the volume of absentee applications that must be processed for the November 5, 2024, General Election. Ms. Smith requests the contracts for Jacqueline Hasting, Paula Long, and Lisa Morgan be amended to commence on September 3, 2024, instead of September 11, 2024.
Previous Commission action/date:
08/20/2024 - At the request of Violetta Smith, Absentee Election Manager, the Commission approved contracts with two additional individuals, Paula Long and Lisa Morgan, as assistants to the Absentee Election Manager, with the contracts being effective from September 11, 2024, to November 12, 2024.
09/19/2023 - At the request of Violetta Smith, Absentee Election Manager, the Commission approved a contract with Jacqueline D. Hasting as assistant to the Absentee Election Manager, for the absentee election periods during the 2024 Statewide General Election Cycle.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Total cost of recommendation:
$150 per day worked not to exceed 46 days (Absentee Election Manager Compensation) - $6,900.00 maximum
$75 per day worked not to exceed 46 days (Assistant) - $3,450.00 maximum

Compensation of Absentee Election Manager.
The time periods during which the services are required by the Absentee Election Manager and the Assistant to the Absentee Election Manager are 55 days prior to the election date, the election day, and the seven-day period following the election; however, the total number of days worked may not exceed 46 days.
