STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
As authorized in Alabama Code Section 40-3-4(5), and as requested by Revenue Commissioner Teddy Faust, Jr., appoint Mr. Al Thompson as a temporary board member to the Baldwin County Board of Equalization to fill the vacant place seat formerly held by James H. Faulkner, III, term to commence May 1, 2026, and not to exceed a period of 45 days.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Background: The Baldwin County Board of Equalization has a vacant seat, which was previously held by James H. Faulkner, III. To ensure the vacancy is filled in time to cover the dates the Baldwin County Board of Equalization holds its hearings this year, Revenue Commissioner Faust requests the Chairman of the County Commission appoint Mr. Al Thompson as a temporary board member effective May 1, 2026, for a period not to exceed 45 days, until the Alabama Commissioner of Revenue fills the vacancy. Statutory Authority §40-3-4(5).
Previous Commission action/date: 05/20/2025 - As authorized in Alabama Code Section 40-3-4(5), and as requested by Revenue Commissioner Teddy Faust, Jr., appointed Mr. Al Thompson as a temporary board member to the Baldwin County Board of Equalization, term commenced on May 26, 2025, and did not exceed a period of 45 days.

FOLLOW UP IMPLEMENTATION
For time-sensitive follow up, select deadline date for follow up: TIME SENSITIVE Oath must be taken and recorded in Probate within five days of Commission notification of appointment.

Coordinate completion of the Oath of Temporary Board Member with Revenue Commission. The Oath must be signed by the appointed board member, Probate Judge, and recorded in Probate. Once Admin receives the fully executed and recorded copy of the Oath and Certification, Admin will send to ADOR.
