STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

As related to the Memorandums of Understanding between the Baldwin County Commission and Hughes and Mack Funeral Homes approved on September 20, 2022, take the following actions:

1)  Approve the extension of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Baldwin County Commission (Coroner’s Office) and Hughes Funeral Home to provide for storage of bodies during a mass fatality or due to mechanical issues that could result in decomposition of persons; and

2)  Approve the extension of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Baldwin County Commission (Coroner’s Office) and Mack Funeral Home to provide for storage of bodies during a mass fatality or due to mechanical issues that could result in decomposition of persons.

The terms of the extension for each Memorandum of Understanding shall commence on October 1, 2024, and terminate on October 1, 2025.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Background:  Baldwin County Commission approved the Memorandums of Understanding between the Baldwin County Commission (Coroner’s Office), Hughes Funeral Home and Mack Funeral Home to provide for storage of bodies during a mass fatality or due to mechanical issues that could result in decomposition of persons.  The terms of these original Memorandums of Understanding commenced on October 1, 2022, and will terminate on October 1, 2024.

 

Previous Commission action/date:  09/20/2022 - BCC approved MOUs with Hughes and Mack Funeral Homes.
