Recommendation

Related to the Baldwin County Planning (Zoning) District 40 Zoning Election on January 9, 2024, take the following action:

 

Pursuant to Section 17-11-2 of the Code of Alabama (1975), recognize the performance at and designate the place / office where the Absentee Election Manager shall perform such public duties for the applicable absentee election time period recognized by state law for the January 9, 2024, Baldwin County Planning (Zoning) District 40 Zoning Election, as follows:

 

Place:  Baldwin County (Main) Courthouse at the County Seat in Bay Minette

Office:  Office of Circuit Clerk of the 28th Judicial Circuit

  8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Monday - Friday)End

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION 

 

Background: 

 

Alabama Code Section 17-11-14 - Compensation of absentee election manager.

 

The County Commission shall determine the amount of compensation to be paid to the absentee election manager for the performance of his or her duties with respect to absentee ballots for which his or her services are required during the 55-day period prior to the election, the day of the election, and the seven-day period following the election, with the total number of days worked not exceeding 46 days.  Such compensation shall be at least fifty dollars ($50.00) per day or the same pay as an inspector as authorized under Section 17-8-12.

11/07/2023 - BCC Regular Meeting - Make a part of the record the Order from Baldwin County Judge of Probate setting the date for the Planning (Zoning) District 40 election for January 9, 2024, to be held at:

10/17/2023 - BCC Regular Meeting - 1) Adopted Resolution #2024-032 which certifies the accuracy of the petition for the Proposed Planning (Zoning) District 40; and 2) Instructed the Judge of Probate to provide a Zoning Election for Proposed Planning (Zoning) District 40, to be held no later than January 15, 2024.

 

05/16/2023 - BCC Regular Meeting - 1) Accepted the notice of intent to request a referendum for Planning and Zoning purposes for the proposed Planning District to be known as Planning (Zoning) District 40 as the balance of the unzoned area in Voting Precinct 37; and 2) Accepted the Planning (Zoning) District 40 boundaries subject to a subsequent affirmative referendum vote pursuant Alabama Code §45-2-261.07.

Total cost of recommendation:  $150 per day worked not to exceed 46 days, per election (Absentee Election Manager compensation) - $6,900.00 maximum
