5th Street Drainage Improvements in Lillian, Alabama

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Take the following actions:

 

1) Approve the extension of maintenance on 5th Street in Lillian from end of current maintenance to Widell Avenue unopened right-of-way in order to complete drainage improvements; and

 

2) Approve the Highway Department to complete one-time drainage improvements on 15 feet of unopened right-of-way between McDonald Avenue and Widell Avenue right-of-way; and

 

3) Authorize staff to advertise for a public hearing to consider vacating the 15 feet of unopened right-of-way between McDonald Avenue and Widell Avenue right-of-way once one-time drainage improvements are completed.

Background: The Highway Department has received numerous complaints from citizens about stormwater runoff in the area due to inadequate drainage outfalls.
