STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Take the following actions:

 

1) Approve the specifications and authorize the Purchasing Director to place a competitive bid for the purchase and installation of one (1) new boiler for the Baldwin County Courthouse located in Bay Minette, Alabama; and

 

2) Further, authorize the Chairman/Purchasing Division Commissioner for the Baldwin County Commission to approve any necessary addendums or clarifications if required after the bid is advertised.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Background:  The Director of Facilities and Maintenance is requesting a competitive bid be placed for the purchase and installation of one (1) new boiler for the Baldwin County Courthouse located in Bay Minette, Alabama. The existing boiler has to be reset at least once a day, or multiple times a day during warmer temperatures in order for the chiller to remain functional. The boiler must run year-round for the chiller to function. At some point, resetting will no longer work and it cannot be predicted when the boiler will completely fail. Staff recommends the Commission approve the specifications and authorize the Purchasing Director to place a competitive bid.
