STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
Adopt Resolution #2024-121 and authorize the Chairman to execute an agreement between the Baldwin County Commission and the Alabama Department of Transportation for the funding of Preliminary Engineering, Right-of-Way, Construction and Construction Engineering Inspection for the Intersection Improvement Project at State Highway 181 and County Road 24.
This agreement shall be effective upon full execution and shall be in effect until the project has been completed and reimbursements are complete. This agreement may be terminated by either party upon delivery of a thirty (30) day notice of termination.)

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Background: This proposed project will add turn lanes and improve intersection sight distance to improve safety and efficiency of the intersection. This project will meet the County’s strategic plan goal for safe, efficient, transportation infrastructure.
Previous Commission action/date:
September 5, 2023 - The Commission adopted Resolution #2023-182 which approves the Highway Department to prepare and submit an application for the Fiscal Year 2024 Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program II (ATRIP-II) requesting federal funding for the State Highway 181 and County Road 24 Intersection Safety Improvement Project; and authorized the Chairman to execute a Letter of Intent to the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) advising of Baldwin County’s intent to apply for federal funds for construction of the project; and authorized the Chairman to sign any related documents.
