Recommendation

Take the following actions related to persons that have applied to be exempt from the Baldwin County mandatory garbage fees by State granted exemption:

2nd Quarter April 1, 2024 - June 30, 2024
Approve 3 and Deny 2 Social Security Applicants

3rd Quarter July 1, 2024 - September 30, 2024
Approve 1 and Deny 1 Social Security Applicants

 

4th Quarter October 1, 2024 - December 31, 2024
Approve 208 and Deny 15 Social Security Applicants

1st Quarter January 1, 2025 - March 31, 2025
Approve 201 and Deny 45 Social Security Applicants

2nd Quarter April 1, 2025 - June 30, 2025
Approve 2 and Deny 3 Social Security Applicants

3rd Quarter July 1, 2025 - September 30, 2025
Approve 4 and Deny 0 Social Security Applicants

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Background:  The Commissioners are provided with a confidential list of applicants that have applied to be exempt from the mandatory garbage fees by the State granted exemption. Applicants have signed a notarized application and provided documentation to establish that Social Security is the sole source of income for the State exemption. Applications are renewed annually. The dollar amount forgiven of $43,248.00 for quarter two (2) through four (4) in 2024 and $42,228.00 for quarter one (1) through three (3) is pursuant to the State granted exemption under the terms of Code of Alabama 1975, 22-27-3 (a) (2) and (3).

 

Previous Commission action/date:  04/16/2024 - The BCC approved the following:

 

1st Quarter starting January 1, 2024 - March 31, 2024:

Approve 279 and Deny 43 Social Security Exemption Applications
