STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Take the following actions:

 

1) Approve the Employment Contract between the Baldwin County Legislative Delegation, and Miles McDaniel, applicable to the position of Legislative Delegation Chief of Staff, subject to the terms set forth in the Employment Contract. The Contract commences September 3, 2025, and expires September 3, 2028; and

 

2) Approve the position description for the Chief of Staff position.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Background:  Applicable Baldwin County local laws, authorize the Baldwin County Legislative Delegation to select personnel who serve at the pleasure of the Delegation. The personnel may be considered County employees for the purpose of being eligible for benefits. The personnel may contract for employment with either the Baldwin County Commission or Baldwin County Legislative Delegation. All compensation and benefits are paid from the Baldwin County Legislative Delegation Office Special Fund.

 

The purpose of the tri-party employment contract is for the Baldwin County Legislative Delegation to set the compensation, certain benefits, and evaluation of the employee. The Baldwin County Commission administers a personnel system where the Legislative Delegation employee is considered a County employee (without merit classified protections), and the Commission maintains the special fund where the Legislative Delegation employee is compensated from, and benefits costs are derived.
