STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

To benefit the public purpose of aiding in the administration of the electoral franchise and to benefit civic purposes for the citizens of Baldwin County, take the following actions:

1) As relates to the Voting Place for Baldwin County Voting Precinct No. 12, authorize an expenditure from Baldwin County Budget Line Item 10051910.52310 (Repairs Maint Buildings - Voting and Elections), in an amount not to exceed $1,024.00 to pay the material and labor costs related to striping handicap spaces at the Stockton Civic Club; and

2) Approve the request from Stockton Civic Club for the Highway Department to stripe the remainder of the parking lot at the Stockton Civic Club. The Stockton Civic Club will reimburse the Commission for labor & material cost (line striping) in the amount of $558.00 with Commission donating the County owned equipment value.

The Baldwin County Commission determines this appropriation serves a public purpose by bringing the Stockton Civic Club in compliance with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to ensure that people with disabilities have full and equal opportunity to vote.
