BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Previous Commission action/date:
Background:
Piney Woods Road, Maywood Lane, and South Boulevard are recent dirt road paving projects and are currently unposted roads.
Page Lane, County Road 38 S, Brown Lane, Kennedy Road, Cortez Street, Hurricane Road, County Road 86, and County Road 71 are all currently unposted roads.
Scenic Highway 98 requires adjusting to promote consistencies with the current speed limits as vehicles transition from the Fairhope city limits to the county-maintained portion of Scenic Highway 98.
The school zone speed for St. Michael High School will be a regulatory speed limit for specific times during the school day. The Alabama Department of Transportation standard for school zone speeds is no more than 15 MPH below the posted regulatory speed limit. St. Michael Way is currently posted at 35 MPH.
An engineering study was performed for each road and the recommended speeds are appropriate relative to the length and geometry of each road. A letter of notification will be sent to each police jurisdiction for the above roads.
