STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Sheriff Anthony Lowery will be present to introduce the Deputies receiving Lifesaver Awards, the latest graduates from the Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC) and charter members of the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Cadet program.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Background:  Deputies Brandon Chain, Delaney Thomas and Jacob Bridges are awarded the Lifesaver Award for their life-saving efforts on May 15, 2024, assisting the Alabama Marine Police at Gravine Island regarding a female who had been injured from a boat propeller.

 

Deputy Nicole Thomas graduated from APOSTC in December and is currently serving in the Army National Guard. Deputy Jason Coehn graduated from APOSTC in February.

 

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Cadet program consists of high school students in Baldwin County, who are also members of the Public Safety Cadet Program. These cadets are learning about law enforcement, public safety, and procedures. They dedicate their time to this new program in hopes to one day serve their community through public safety.

 

Program administrators are Deputy Nick James and Deputy Landon Pickett. 

 

BCSO cadets attended their very first competition with only 5 months to train and came back winners in multiple categories.
