STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Take the following actions:

 

1) Approve the submittal of the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) Application to the Alabama Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) for $1,148,404.00 for FY 2026; and

 

2) Authorize the Chairman to sign the Application and any documents related to this Application; and

 

3) Authorize EMA Planning & Grants Division Manager to submit the Application electronically through the AEMA grants portal, on behalf of the Baldwin County Commission.

The Period of Performance for this grant is October 1, 2025 - September 30, 2026.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Background:  EMPG funds are received on an annual basis and are used in support of viable emergency management programs at the state and local levels of government. The AEMA is the state administrative agency for these funds. EMPG funds are provided by the federal and state governments to local governments to help support programmatic elements of local emergency management agencies.

 

Previous Commission action/date:  11/05/2024 - 1) Approved the submission of the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) Application for FY 2025; and 2) Authorized the Chairman to sign the application and any documents related to the application; and 3) Authorized the EMA Planning & Grants Division Manager to submit the Application electronically through AEMA grants portal, on behalf of the Baldwin County Commission.
