ITEM TITLE

Title

City of Gulf Shores - Quitclaim Deed for Waterway West Boulevard and Portion of West 1st Street

Body

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Authorize the Chairman to execute a Quitclaim Deed conveying any and all right and title to that portion of right-of-way owned by Baldwin County on Waterway West Boulevard aka 28th Avenue aka Bon Secour Road and a portion of West 1st Street to the City of Gulf Shores.

End

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Background: The Baldwin County Commission approved transferring maintenance of County Road 4 West to the City of Gulf Shores in March 2006. At that time, the County did not execute a quitclaim deed conveying the right-of-way to the City.

In August 2007, the City of Gulf Shores changed the name of County Road 4 West to Waterway West Boulevard.

Conveyance of the right-of-way by quitclaim deed will place ownership of Waterway West Boulevard with City of Gulf Shores.

Previous Commission action/date:

March 2, 2006 - The Commission approved Resolution #2006-72 transferring the maintenance of County Road 4 West and County Road 6 West and other local roads to the City of Gulf Shores for a cost of $116,000.00 and a final resurfacing (1 inch overlay) at a later date with a six month notice from the City of Gulf Shores.
