Recommendation

Approve Change Order #1 in the amount of $60,857.17 for Project No. HW22026 - Sherman Road Drainage Improvements with McElhenney Construction Co., LLC, and authorize the Chairman to execute the Change Order.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Background:  The Highway Department is submitting for Commission approval Change Order #1 in the amount of $60,857.17 for Project No. HW22026 - Sherman Road Drainage Improvements. The change order includes details of increased plan quantities of various materials and will not increase the contract time.

See attached Summary of Previous ARPA Commission Action.

 

Previous Commission action/date: 

07/16/2024 meeting: Awarded the bid for Project No. HW22026 - Sherman Road Drainage Improvements to the lowest bidder, McElhenney Construction Co., LLC, in the Bid Amount $1,294,544.19; Construction Time: 150 working days; and authorized the Chairman to execute the Contract.

 

03/19/2024 meeting: 1) Approved the allocation of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds in the amount of $2,000,000 for the cost of the Drainage Improvements along Sherman Road Project, to include the replacement of the existing 62-foot timber substructure bridge constructed in 1954 with a new 80-foot concrete bridge to mitigate flooding impacts and improve safety; and 2) Adopted Resolution #2024-081 of the Baldwin County Commission allocating up to $2,000,000 of the ARPA funds for the Drainage Improvements along Sherman Road Project.

 

03/05/2024 meeting: 1) Approved the Purchasing Director to place a competitive bid for the Sherman Road Drainage Improvement Project; and 2) Approved the Chairman to execute any project related documents.
