Recommendation
Approve the request from the American Legion Post 44 to utilize a Baldwin Regional Area Transit System (BRATS) bus for transporting 20-30 young men to the American Legion State Program at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Sunday, May 26, 2019, and transporting them back to Baldwin County on Saturday, June 1, 2019. The estimated cost for transportation is $1,525.00 with the Alabama American Legions funding $500.00 and the Baldwin County Commission funding the remaining portion not to exceed $1025.00 from Budget Line Item 51105.5290 (General Contingency Fund).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Previous Commission action/date: May 2, 2017; May 1, 2018
Background:
May 2, 2017 - The Commission approved the request from the American Legion Post 44 to utilize Baldwin County Transportation Bus #11 for transporting 24-27 young men to the American Legion State Program at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Thursday, May 25, 2017, and transporting them back to Baldwin County on Saturday, June 3, 2017. The estimated cost for transportation was $1,375.00 with the Alabama American Legion funding $500.00 and the Baldwin County Commission funding the remaining portion not to exceed $875.00 from Budget Line Item 51105.5290 (General Contingency Fund).
May 1, 2018 - The Commission approved the request from the American Legion Post 44 to utilize a BRATS bus for transporting 24-27 young men to the American Legion State Program at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Sunday, May 27, 2018, and transporting them back to Baldwin County on Saturday, June 2, 2018. The estimated cost for transportation was $1,375.00 with the Alabama American Legion funding $500.00 and the Baldwin County Commission funding the remaining portion not to exceed $875.00 from Budget Line Item 51105.5290 (General Contingency Fund).
Background:
Ms. Donna Stacey, Boys State Coordinator, has requested assistance from the Baldwin County Commission to transport young men to the American Legion State Program being held at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama from May 26, 2019 - June 1, 2019. If approved, a BRATS driver will transport the boys to Tuscaloosa on Sunday, May 26, 2019, and return to Tuscaloosa on Saturday, June 1, 2019, to bring them home.
