STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Authorize the Purchasing Director to advertise the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the acquisition of countywide orthophotos and optional building footprint data.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Background:  Brian Peacock, CIS Director, and Revenue Commissioner Teddy Faust are requesting the Commission approve the attached solicitation for the acquisition of countywide orthophotos and optional footprint data. The Commission has acquired imagery since the inception of the digital GIS database system in 1996. Imagery acquisitions have taken place in 1996, 2001, 2005, 2009, 2013, 2016, 2020, and 2023. This data has historically been funded by the Reappraisal Fund (51810.5150.1502) via the Revenue Commission office and is extensively used in the reappraisal process and numerous other County Commission departments. The 2023 Digital Orthophoto Acquisition of the County was last brought forward in June 2022 for a three-year contract with Pictometry.

 

Previous Commission action/date:  The Baldwin County Commission has maintained a full suite of GIS data dating back to 1996.
