STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Reject all bids received for Project No. HW25106 - County Road 68 pedestrian safety improvements 900 feet east of Baldwin Beach Express due to the bid amounts received exceeding the budgeted amount.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Background:  Bids were opened in the Purchasing Conference Room on January 6, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. Two (2) bids were received. Mark Acreman, Assistant County Engineer, submitted a letter requesting that the Commission reject the bids received because the bid amounts exceed the budgeted amount approved by the Commission in FY25 budget. The Commission budgeted $54,200.00 of Department funds for this project. The lowest bid amount received was $119,817.62.

 

Previous Commission action/date:  11/18/2025 meeting: 1) Approved the Purchasing Director to place a competitive bid for safety improvements on County Road 68 (900 feet east of Baldwin Beach Express); and 2) Approved the Chairman to execute any project related documents.
