STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Approve Change Order #2 in the amount of $5,454.05 with Blade Construction, LLC, for HW21125000 Culvert Installation on Paul Cleverdon Road over East Tributary to Baker Branch and authorize the Chairman to execute the Change Order. (Change Order #2 does not increase the construction cost of the project).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Background:  The Highway Department is submitting to the Commission for approval Change Order #2 in the amount of $5,454.05 for Project HW21125000 Culvert Replacement on Paul Cleverdon Rd over East Tributary to Baker Branch. This Change Order is shifting pay item quantities from project HW21093 Culvert replacement on County Road 34S over East Tributary to Baker Branch to project HW21125 Culvert replacement on Paul Cleverdon Road over East Tributary to Baker Branch. These pay items were required to be shifted between projects due to the sequence of construction needed for the work to be performed. 

 

Change Order #2 does not increase the construction cost of these projects.

 

Original construction cost was $1,720,561.60 including Change Order #1 ($71,252.82) and #2 (no increase) the final construction cost is $1,791,814.42.

 

Previous Commission action/date: 

09/17/2024 meeting: Approved Change Order #1 in the amount of $71,252.82 with Blade Construction, LLC, for Project No. HW21092000 Culvert Replacement on Davis Road over Baker Branch and authorized the Chairman to execute the Change Order.

 

03/07/2023 meeting: Awarded the bid for Project No. HW21092000 Culvert Replacement on Davis Road over Baker Branch - Project No. HW21093000 Culvert Replacement on County Road 34S over East Tributary to Baker Branch - HW21094000 Culvert Replacement on County Road 34S over West Tributary to Baker Branch - Project No. HW21125000 Culvert Installation on Paul Cleverdon Road over East Tributary to Baker Branch to the lowest bidder, Blade Construction, LLC, in the Bid Amount $1,720,561.60; Construction Time: 195 working days; and authorized the Chairman to execute the Contract.

 

09/07/2021 meeting: Authorized the Purchasing Director to place a competitive bid for the following bridge replacement projects once plans and contract documents are complete:  1) Project No. HW21092000 - Davis Road over Baker Branch; 2) Project No. HW21093000 - County Road 34S Road over East Tributary to Baker Branch; 3) Project No. HW21094000 - County Road 34S over West Tributary to Baker Branch; 4) Project No. HW21125000 - Paul Cleverdon Road over East Tributary to Baker Branch.
