Approve Change Orders #1 for Group 5 of the ERPR-9072 in the amount of $21,452.98 for Project No. HW22167 and $3,785.32 for Project No. HW22168 in the total amount of $25,238.30 with Arrington Curb & Excavation, Inc., and authorize the Chairman to execute the Change Orders.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Background: The Highway Department is submitting for Commission approval Change Orders #1 in the amount of $21,452.98 for Project No. HW22167 - ERPR-9072(974) CR 112 - 4,138 ft East of Barrineau Park Road and $3,785.32 for Project No. HW22168 - ERPR-9072(967) CR 112 - 2,223 ft West of Barrineau Park Road for a total amount of $25,238.30.
Both projects are part of Group 5 of the ERPR-9072 and had a few overruns over planned quantities as follows:
1) Additional length of roadway was required to be removed to place the pipes at a skewed angle per the plans. Subsequently, additional borrow materials, crushed aggregates, bituminous pavements, and pavement markings were required; and
2) Additional topsoil, solid sodding and riprap was needed to stabilize slopes due to inadequate field conditions.
Previous Commission action/date:
05/07/2024 meeting: Awarded the bid for Group 5 of the ERPR-9072 - Permanent Repair for Various Sites Due to a Severe Weather Event Beginning on September 16, 2020, FHWA Disaster #AL20-2 to the lowest responsible bidder, Arrington Curb & Excavation, Inc., Bid Amount $1,144,178.74; Construction Time: 125 working days; and authorized the Chairman to execute the Contract.

The agreements shall be effective upon full execution and shall remain in effect until the project has been completed and reimbursement is complete. The agreements may be terminated by either party upon the delivery of a thirty (30) day notice of termination; and
2) Approved and authorized the Purchasing Director to place a competitive bid for each project once final plans and contracts are completed.
