STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
Take the following actions:
1) Approve the Purchasing Director to place a competitive bid for the County Road 99 Shoulder Widening Project; and
2) Approve the Chairman to execute any project related documents.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Background:
The Florida-Alabama Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) has allocated funding for shoulder widening on County Road 99 in the Lillian Community. This project completes the final 1.5-mile segment on County Road 99. Plans and contracts are being finalized to advertise for bids. The current construction estimate for the project is $886,535.90. Of this amount, $709,228.70 (80%) is reimbursable through the Florida-Alabama TPO and the remaining $177,307.20 (20%) will be funded by Baldwin County.
Previous Commission action/date:
September 3, 2024 - The Commission approved a Reimbursable Utility Agreement between the Baldwin County Commission and Baldwin County Sewer Service for the addition of paved shoulders on County Road 99 from County Road 91 to Carrier Drive. The total cost of this relocation is $82,500.00 with the Florida-Alabama TPO acting through ALDOT providing an 80% match of $66,000.00 and Baldwin County providing the remaining 20% at $16,500.00.
October 19, 2021 - The Commission adopted Resolution #2022-006 and authorized the Chairman to execute an agreement between the Baldwin County Commission and ALDOT for the funding of Preliminary Engineering, Construction and Construction Engineering Inspection for the County Road 99 Shoulder Widening from County Road 91 to Carrier Drive. This agreement shall be effective upon full execution and shall be in effect until the project has been completed and reimbursements are complete. This agreement may be terminated by either party
upon delivery of a thirty (30) day notice of termination.
