BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Background:  On October 7, 2025, the Baldwin County Commission adopted a new Master Plan for Live Oak Landing Park to serve as a guide for continued park enhancements. One of the key components of the Master Plan is to provide additional recreational opportunities. Also in October 2025, The Fly High Goose Foundation donated $30,000.00 to the Baldwin County Commission to be used for playground improvements at Live Oak Landing Park. The action recommended partners County funds with the donated funds to maximize playground enhancement, trail connectivity to the campground, pickleball court construction, and picnic shelters in accordance with the Master Plan.

The Live Oak Landing Trail project HW25078 was funded in the fiscal year 2025 budget, adopted during the September 17, 2024, Regular meeting. With the postponement of the Live Oak/Bicentennial Park Pedestrian Bridge, there is no need to construct the trail connection to the bridge location at this time. This transfer provides for the immediate use of funding, allowing for the Recreational Enhancements at Live Oak Landing Park project PK26001 to move toward construction and completion.
