STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Approve the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Agreement for Community Traffic Safety Program Grant Participation for the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office to participate in the Southwest Alabama Regional Highway Safety Office’s Community Traffic Safety Program for reimbursement of overtime traffic safety enforcement and other time as approved by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs and/or Southwest Alabama Regional Highway Safety Office.

 

The term of the Agreement is October 1, 2026, through September 15, 2027.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Background:  This Agreement is the official participation in Southwest Alabama Regional Highway Safety Office’s (SWARHSO) Community Traffic Safety Program (CTSP) grant(s) and for 100% funded salary, plus allowable FICA fringe, for overtime traffic safety enforcement (and other time as approved by ADECA and/or SWARHSO) and for traffic enforcement/traffic safety equipment, dependent upon approval of applicable grant(s). The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office has participated in this program for five (5) years.

 

Upon approval of grant(s), funding will be made available to the Sheriff’s Office through CORE reporting system by SWARHSO, as authorized by ADECA. This agreement for CTSP grant participation is not a notice of grant approval but is required by the Sheriff’s Office prior to receipt of CTSP grant funds, if such become available.

 

Previous Commission action/date:  September 2, 2025 - Approved the FY 2025-2026 Agreement for CTSP Grant Participation for the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office to participate in the Southwest Region’s Community Traffic Safety Program. The term of the contract was October 1, 2025, through September 15, 2026.
