BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Background:  Mediacom is requesting a letter of support for its Broadband Equity Access and Deployment Program (BEAD) grant application through ADECA to expand high-speed Fiber to the Home (FTTH) broadband access to homes designated as unserved or underserved by the Federal Communications Commission. Mediacom’s project proposal to ADECA seeks funding to expand broadband services across parts of Baldwin County by building an estimated 1,750 miles of fiber to serve 14,001 unserved and 4,581 underserved locations.

Mitchell Brown with Mediacom will be present at the work session to answer any questions.

Previous Commission action/date:  August 15, 2023 - Commission approved a letter of support for Mediacom’s subaward grant application to the Alabama Broadband Accessibility Fund (ABAF) through ADECA to bring 2,400 unserved or underserved locations in unincorporated areas of Baldwin County access to high speed FTTH broadband service.
