BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Previous Commission action/date:
03/06/19 meeting: 1) Approved the specifications and authorized the Purchasing Director to place a competitive bid for the purchase and installation of four (4) metal buildings at various Baldwin County Highway Facility locations; and 2) Further, authorized the Chairman/Purchasing Division Commissioner for the Baldwin County Commission to approve any necessary addendums or clarifications if required
after the bid is advertised.
04/02/19 meeting: Made Addendum No. 1 which includes three (3) changes and several clarifications to the bid specifications for the Purchase and Installation of Four (4) Metal Buildings at Various Baldwin County Highway Facility Locations, part of the April 2, 2019, official record of the Baldwin County Commission.
Background: Bids opened in the Purchasing Conference Room on April 1, 2019 at 1:30 P.M. Two (2) bids were received. The lowest bid was received from Sun Coast Builders, Inc., in the amount of $179,677.00. They had one (1) exception to the bid specifications. They did not include a copy of their current insurance certificate as stated in the specifications with their bid response. Staff is of the opinion that the exception is minor since the County has a copy of Sun Coast Builders current insurance certificate on file and is requesting that the Commission award the bid to the lowest bidder, Sun Coast Builders, Inc., in the amount of $179,677.00 with a completion time of 12 weeks. Eighty-six (86) Vendors registered on the County website and were notified by email as well as sent a postcard, via U.S. Postal Service notifying them of this solicitation. Five (5) Vendors attended the mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting.
