BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Background: In 1943, in the midst of World War II, Alabama led the United States of America, the first state, in an official call for the establishment of the Jewish state and homeland. A unanimous joint resolution was signed by the Governor June 10, 1943.
The Legislature of Alabama, on May 17, 2021, passed a resolution expressing solidarity with Israel in its defense against terrorism in the Gaza strip.
The State of Alabama has led the way in the United States in supporting Israel. The Baldwin County Commission, as the governing body of Baldwin County, the fastest growing county in the State of Alabama, wishes to express its solidarity with Israel and support Israel’s inherent right to self-defense in the face of terrorist attacks.
