STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Approve establishing a school zone along County Road 55 at the new Silverhill Elementary School reducing the speed limit to 25 miles per hour from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. during days when school is in session.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Background:  The Town of Silverhill has requested that the BCC establish a School Zone that will reduce the speed limit to 25 MPH along County Road 55 in front of the new Silverhill Elementary School. The 25 MPH reduced speed limit within the designated School Zone will be active from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. during days when school is in session. The Silverhill Elementary School is anticipated to open its doors to students in January 2025.

 

County Road 55 is in the jurisdiction of the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.
