STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Take the following actions:

 

1) Approve the County Engineer to submit the FY 2025 County Rebuild Alabama Certificate of Compliance verifying 97.9% of County Rebuild Alabama Funds for FY 2025 County Rebuild Alabama projects were expended utilizing a contract; and

 

2) Make the FY 2025 County Rebuild Alabama Certificate of Compliance part of the record.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Background:  Governor Kay Ivey signed the Rebuild Alabama Act #2019-2 into law on March 12, 2019. This Act amends the Code of Alabama 1975 and is used for transportation infrastructure improvement, preservation, and maintenance projects pursuant to the provisions of the Act. The Alabama State Act levies an additional 10¢ excise tax on gasoline and diesel fuel implemented over a three-year period.

 

The County Rebuild Alabama Certificate of Compliance is used to verify that a minimum of 50% of County Rebuild Alabama Funds for the previous fiscal year were let to contract. This report is due annually on January 15th.

 

Previous Commission action/date: 

August 20, 2024 - Adopted the Rebuild Alabama - Baldwin County FY 2025 County Transportation Plan which included the following projects:

 

County Road 87 - Resurface from Channel 44 Road to County Road 112

County Road 73 - Resurface from Foley Beach Express to County Road 36

County Road 99 - Resurface from County Road 91 to Carrier Drive

Scenic Highway 98 - Bridge Replacement over Point Clear Creek;

 

and approved the display of the County Transportation Plan in conspicuous places at the Baldwin County Courthouses, Baldwin County Commission Offices, Baldwin County Highway Department, Baldwin County website and other places deemed appropriate by the Baldwin County Commission.
