BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Background:  The Olde Time Days event represents Baldwin County’s farming and logging industry. National Farmer’s Day is observed on October 12th each year - a day for everyone to acknowledge the hard work that goes into feeding and supplying a nation. Everyone is encouraged to thank farmers and pay tribute to the individuals who plow, sow, raise, feed, and harvest, to provide the food and materials that our country needs to succeed. October was chosen to recognize farmers because it is after the traditional harvest times of many crops, before cultivators and technology, and is the time of the year when farmers themselves would be able to join in the festivities, because they would be done with the harvest.
