STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Consider the request from Baldwin County High School (BCHS) to waive park fees and allow use of Live Oak Landing Park and pavilion to host BCHS’s Inaugural Jambalaya Cookoff fundraiser to be held on November 21, 2026.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Background:  A request was received from Baldwin County High School Principal Richard Paul to use Live Oak Landing Park to host the 1st Annual BCHS Jambalaya Cookoff and for fees to be waived. The fundraiser will allow up to 30 teams to compete, with a maximum of 4 people per team. Teams will bring tents and tables to the site. Gates open at 11:00 a.m. and judging begins at 12:30 p.m. After the 1st place winner’s 40% payout, all other proceeds benefit BCHS in the capacity of student rewards, teacher appreciation, and campus improvements.

 

Admission to the event is $10 per ticket; however, Live Oak Landing Park and boat launch will remain open to the general public.
