STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
Award the bid for Project No. HW22026 - Sherman Road Drainage Improvements to the lowest bidder, McElhenney Construction Co., LLC, in the Bid Amount $1,294,544.19; Construction Time: 150 working days; and authorize the Chairman to execute the Contract.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Background: Bids were opened in the Purchasing Conference Room on June 27, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. Two (2) bids were received. The lowest bid was received from McElhenney Construction Co., LLC, in the bid amount of $1,294,544.19. The Baldwin County Assistant County Engineer, Mark Acreman, has reviewed the bid responses and has submitted the certified Bid Tabulation and a letter recommending that the bid be awarded to the lowest bidder, McElhenney Construction Co., LLC. Previous Commission action/date:
03/19/2024 meeting: 1) Approved the allocation of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds in the amount of $2,000,000 for the cost of the Drainage Improvements along Sherman Road Project, to include the replacement of the existing 62-foot timber substructure bridge constructed in 1954 with a new 80-foot concrete bridge to mitigate flooding impacts and improve safety; and 2) Adopted Resolution #2024-081 of the Baldwin County Commission allocating up to $2,000,000 of the ARPA funds for the Drainage Improvements along Sherman Road Project.
03/05/2024 meeting: 1) Approved the Purchasing Director to place a competitive bid for the Sherman Road Drainage Improvement Project; and 2) Approved the Chairman to execute any project related documents.
