BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Background: The Highway Department is requesting the Commission approve the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for Engineering Services for Scenic Highway 98 Bridge Replacement in Point Clear. This project is located on Scenic Highway 98 over Point Clear Creek, south of Fairhope. The existing bridge structure is in poor condition due to saltwater corrosion of the bridge components, which has caused structural failures. Staff recommends the Commission approve the RFQ and authorize the Purchasing Director to advertise.

06/18/2024 meeting: 1) Approved the allocation of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Revenue Replacement Funds in the amount of $400,000.00 for the cost of the contracted engineering design professional services for the Scenic Highway 98 Bridge Replacement Project in Point Clear; and 2) Adopted Resolution #2024-123 of the Baldwin County Commission allocating up to $400,000.00 of ARPA Revenue Replacement Funds for the contracted engineering design professional services costs for the Scenic Highway 98 Bridge Replacement Project.
