STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Authorize the Chairman to send a letter to the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) requesting Pre-award Authority on behalf of the City of Fairhope for the Downtown Fairhope Parking Shelter Project.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Previous Commission action/date:  December 5, 2017 - The Commission approved an Intergovernmental Service Agreement between Baldwin County and the City of Fairhope for a Transit Shelter in the City of Fairhope.

 

Background:  ALDOT has consulted with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and found the Downtown Fairhope Parking Shelter is eligible to start preliminary design and environmental work under pre-award authority. ALDOT needs an official request from the Commission on behalf of the City of Fairhope to start the work. Cost incurred under pre-award authority will not be reimbursed until the grant has been authorized by the FTA.
