Recommendation
Approve a time extension with Southern Forestry Consultants, Inc., on the Land Management of 424.46 acres of “Wet Pine Flatwoods Habitat” within the Baldwin County Mitigation Area, Gulf Shores, Alabama, project at no additional charge to the County, and authorize the Highway Department to issue the time extension notice. (Contract extension for mechanical work effective until October 31, 2018. Contract extension for other work effective until May 31, 2019.)

Background:
06/7/2016 - The Commission 1) approved the specifications and authorized the Purchasing Manager to place a competitive bid for the Land Management of 424.46 acres of “Wet Pine Flatwoods Habitat” within the Baldwin County Mitigation Area, Gulf Shores, Alabama; and 2) Further, authorized the Chairman/Purchasing Division Commissioner for the Baldwin County Commission to approve any necessary addendums or clarifications if required after the bid is advertised.
07/19/2016 - The Commission awarded the bid to the lowest bidder, Southern Forestry Consultants, Inc., in the bid amount of $280.60 per acre for a total of $119,103.48 for the Land Management of 424.46 acres of “Wet Pine Flatwoods Habitat” within the Baldwin County Mitigation Area, Gulf Shores, Alabama and authorized the Chairman to execute the Contract.
09/5/2017 - The Commission approved a time extension with Southern Forestry Consultants, Inc., on the Land Management of 424.46 acres of “Wet Pine Flatwoods Habitat” within the Baldwin County Mitigation Area, Gulf Shores, Alabama, project at no additional charge to the County, and authorized the Highway Department to issue the time extension notice. (Contract extension effective until May 31, 2018.)
Background:
Due to inundated site conditions, the contractor has been unable to complete the land management services on the Baldwin County Mitigation Area.
