STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

As requested by the City of Fairhope, and to cooperate in the administration of the electoral franchise benefiting the public, authorize said municipality the ability to use the following allotted voting machines, at no cost, for its October 2, 2018, Special Municipal Election with the understanding that said municipality shall be responsible for all costs associated to the provision of services of the County Voting Machine Custodian and any and all other election related costs:

Three (3) Voting Machines; and
One (1) Automark 87000 (HAVA) Compliant Voting Machine.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

 

Previous Commission action/date:  July 24, 2018, BCC Work Session

 

Background:  The City of Fairhope is conducting a Special Municipal Election on October 2, 2018, and is requesting the use of the County's voting machines, three (3) standard voting machines and one (1) Automark (handicap accessible) voting machine.

It has been the practice of the County to allow the free use of the county voting machines for municipal elections if so requested with the understanding that the municipality pay any and all costs related to the Voting Machine Custodian's assistance and balloting supplies.
