Recommendation
Rescind the action taken by the Baldwin County Commission, during its regularly scheduled meeting held on August 1, 2017, more specifically, staff recommendation regarding agenda item BD1, which approved as follows:
“Authorize the Chairman to execute an Amendment to the Optical Fiber IRU Agreement between the Baldwin County Commission and Southern Light, LLC to extend the Agreement from a term of ten (10) years to a twenty (20) year term.”

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Previous Commission action/date: 08-01-2017
Background: During the regularly scheduled meeting August 1, 2017, the Commission authorized the Chairman to execute an Amendment to the Optical Fiber IRU Agreement between the Baldwin County Commission and Southern Light, LLC to extend the Agreement from a term of ten (10) years to a twenty (20) year term. After the agreement was approved by the Baldwin County Commission, Southern Light was purchased by Uniti Fiber and the agreement was not accepted by the new company. A new RFP is being drafted to incorporate the services that Uniti currently provides through this agreement.
